Kayak Orinoco and tributaries.

River, savannah and jungle experience, suitable for inexperienced kayakers, but adjustable for the most expert. Possibilities of observing birds, fauna and flora in general, sport fishing, bathing in crystalline natural waters, photography and nature. 

The Orinoco River forms one of the largest hydrographic basins on the planet (2,300 km) considered the third river in the world in extension and flow after the Amazon and the Congo. 34% corresponds to Colombia and 66% to Venezuela.

The Department of Vichada presents rocky outcrops of the Guyanese Massif or Guayanas Shield, which is the oldest geological formation on earth (2 billion years).

Day 1. Adaptation: Puerto Carreño and Dagua River.

Reception at the German Olano Airport (Puerto Carreño) and ground transfer to Caño Dagua (1 hour).

This channel with crystal clear waters and white beaches will be perfect for getting in touch with kayaking.

We end the day on a beach above the Dagua.

Day 2. Casuarito and Atures: the widest rapid in the world.

We will go up to Cerro Dagua to observe the sunrise. Transfer by boat to photograph the Raudal Atures in front of Casuarito, where the Orinoco becomes a beautiful succession of stone islands, some with petroglyphs. This stream is considered the widest in the world.

In the afternoon we will kayak to Santa Elena Island; There the Orinoco reveals a set of enormous rounded stones with strange shapes and some form natural pools with cold water.

Our next 3 nights will be on the beach of the Ventanas Reserve.

Day 3. Labyrinth and Ventanas Island.

We will go up to Cerro Dagua to observe the sunrise. Transfer by boat to photograph the Raudal Atures in front of Casuarito, where the Orinoco becomes a beautiful succession of stone islands, some with petroglyphs. This stream is considered the widest in the world.

Day 4. Caño Negro, Caño Verde and birds.

We will go up the Caño Negro by boat until we reach the junction with Caño Verde, a spectacle that will leave you speechless! Its waters are very crystalline and its green color predominates throughout the channel.

In the afternoon we will kayak down the Caño Negro until we reach the mouth of the Orinoco River, a perfect place for bird watching.

Day 5. Bita Biodiverse.

Boat navigation along the Orinoco River to the Bojonawi Natural Reserve, where we will take a walk through the El Pañuelo lagoon. We continue sailing by boat up the Bita River, a treasure of biodiversity.

It is a very healthy river that originates from the Orinoquia savannahs, measuring between 400 and 500 kilometers, a tributary that has not yet been affected by livestock farming or the extraction of natural resources, in whose basin there is no presence of indigenous groups, But jaguars, dolphins, tapirs and many species of turtles do live there. Experts have classified it as one of the healthiest and most biodiverse tributaries in Colombia.

The river has enough beaches to give you the pleasure of choosing.

Day 6. Dolphins of Meta.

We will kayak through the union of the Bita and Orinoco rivers. Transfer by boat to visit the mouth of the Meta River in the Orinoco, a perfect place to see dolphins.

In the afternoon we will arrive at the hotel in Puerto Carreño, where we will spend our last night. We will walk to Cerro de la Bandera where we will have a 360° panoramic view.

Day 7. Puerto Carreño and return.

Free day: walk through the local market and the boardwalk.

Return.
